What is a goal? We never seem to have the time to actually sit down and think about what we want to achieve in life. It may even seem selfish to think of ourselves rather than the ones we love, but nothing is further from the truth. Taking even a little time each day to spend on ourselves makes us a better person. Not only for ourselves but for all those around us. Maybe you already know what you want out of life, maybe you don't, or maybe you've never acknowledged it and allow it to crystallized into a concrete desire. You need this desire. You need this fire in the belly to be the spark to change and get things moving in your life.
Sit down and do it today if you haven't yet. It could take as little as 10 or 20 minutes, and it could make all the difference in the world.
Stephen Covey outlines in "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" the technique "Begin with the end in mind". At the end of your life what kind of person would you like to have been? You can refine this further by thinking of each of the daily roles you play in life: Husband / Wife, Father / Mother, Son / Daughter, and so on.
Once you have the overall big picture narrow it down to what you want to achieve in the next year? Six months? This month?
Good! Now pick one goal, just one to focus on for the next month or two. At it's most basic level what daily activity would accomplish this goal? This is a key step. On a very fundamental level YOU ARE WHAT YOU DO DAILY. If you get nothing else from this site, remember that and everything else will fall into place.
Now that you have your action, practice it! Do it daily until it becomes second nature. Do it until it becomes a fundamental part of who you are. That is how goals are really achieved. You have to be consistent. Do it every day and never miss a day. Do whatever it takes but do not neglect that aspect. Tell everyone you know, tattoo it on your arm, let us help you with a daily phone call, whatever it takes just do it.
